With Raklet's Courses module you can build a course, publish it to your member portal, and let members work through it at their own pace. When they finish, Raklet can issue them a certificate automatically, and you get a report showing exactly who completed what.
A course is made of lessons. Each lesson can be a video, a file to download, or written content. Any lesson can also have a quiz attached to it.
Before You Start: Turn Courses On
Courses is an optional app, so it is switched off until you add it.
Go to the App Store in your admin panel.
Find Courses and add it to your account.
Courses now appears in your left menu.
If Courses is not in your left menu, this step has not been done yet.
Create the Course
Go to Courses and click New course.
Title: required.
Description: this appears on the course card in your members' catalog.
Completion rule: how a member finishes the course. See below.
Cover image: click the field to pick an image from your media gallery, or upload a new one there.
Issue a certificate on completion: tick this to give finishers a certificate. The signatory name, signatory title and accent color fields appear once it is ticked, and are used on the certificate itself.
Click Create course. You can add lessons once the course exists.
Choosing a Completion Rule
The completion rule decides what a member has to do for the course to count as complete. You choose whether a quiz is part of that or not.
All lessons completed: the member works through every lesson and marks each one complete. Quizzes are not required for completion under this rule, so you can add them as optional practice or leave them out entirely.
Pass the quiz: the member has to pass the quiz to complete the course. Lessons can be browsed in any order and do not need to be marked complete. If the course has more than one quiz, all of them must be passed.
You can change the completion rule later from the course editor.
Add Lessons
In the course editor, click Add lesson, give it a title, and pick a type:
Video: paste a YouTube, Vimeo or Zoom recording link. Raklet works out which one it is and turns the link into a player automatically. Other video sites are not supported.
File: enter the file's URL and the name you want members to see. They get a download button.
Rich text: write the lesson directly in Raklet. Basic HTML is allowed.
Save the lesson and repeat for each one. Lessons appear to members in the order you add them.
Add a Quiz (Optional)
Each lesson can have one quiz. Click Add quiz on a lesson, then set:
Passing %: the score a member needs to pass.
Max attempts: how many tries they get. Enter 0 for unlimited.
Both arrive pre-filled, at 60% and 0. Members see both values as a subheading above the quiz, for example Passing score: 70% · Attempts: 0/3, so the attempt limit is visible to them and not only to you.
Then add your questions. For each one, write the question, choose Single choice or Multiple choice, set how many points it is worth, and add the answer options. Tick the correct option, or options for a multiple-choice question. This is what answers get graded against.
⚠️ Check your quiz carefully before you publish. Once a member has attempted a quiz, that quiz can no longer be edited or deleted. This is deliberate, so nobody's existing results can be changed after the fact. Make sure every question has a correct answer ticked. If you do need to change a quiz later, add a new lesson with a new quiz instead.
Note that Raklet does not warn you about this in the editor. The quiz still opens, the fields still accept changes and Save quiz still appears to work, but nothing is saved. Reload the page if you want to confirm whether an edit went through.
How Grading Works
Questions are all-or-nothing. On a multiple-choice question, a member has to pick exactly the right set of options. There is no partial credit.
Members cannot find the correct answers by inspecting the page. Grading happens on Raklet's side and the answers are never shown to them.
After submitting, members see which questions they got right and wrong, but not what the right answer was.
Publish the Course
Click Publish, either in the course editor or from the course list.
A course needs at least one lesson before it can be published. If you chose the "Pass the quiz" rule, it also needs at least one quiz. Until then it stays a draft and members cannot see it.
To retire a course later, click Archive. It disappears from the members' catalog and its direct link stops working for them too, but every record (enrollments, quiz results, certificates) is kept.
Add Courses to Your Member Portal Menu
Publishing a course does not automatically create a link to it, so this step matters.
Go to Settings > Navigation and add the Courses page to your menu. That gives members the course catalog. You can also add links to individual courses.
What Your Members See
The member signs in and opens Courses, where every published course is listed with a Start, In progress or Completed label.
Opening a course enrolls them automatically. There is nothing to sign up for.
They work through the lessons, clicking Mark as complete on each one, and take the quiz wherever there is one.
Once they have satisfied the completion rule, a congratulations banner appears with a link to their certificate.
Members have to be signed in to take a course.
Certificates
If the course has certificates switched on, one is issued the moment a member completes it. It shows your organization's name, the member's name, the course title, the completion date, their score for quiz-based courses, your signatory details and a unique serial number.
Members open it from the View certificate link on the course, or from the email Raklet sends them. To save it as a PDF, they print the page from their browser and choose Save as PDF.
Verifying a Certificate
Every certificate carries a serial number and a public verification link, both printed on the certificate itself. Anyone can open that link (an employer, a regulator, a member) and see the recipient, the course, the issue date and the score, without needing a Raklet account. Use it when someone needs to confirm a certificate is genuine.
See Who Completed What
Go to Courses > Completion report. Above the table sits one progress tile per course, showing how many members have finished it. The table below has one row per member per course, showing the member's organisation, their status (Not started, In progress or Completed), their best quiz score and their completion date.
Filter by course and by status.
Tick Include sub-orgs to roll up completions from your sub-organizations alongside your own. Useful if you run a federation, a chapter network or a group of branches.
Click Export CSV to download the whole report, for your own records or to send to a regulator.
Emails and Notifications
Members get a notification in the portal when they complete a course, plus an email with a link to their certificate if certificates are switched on.
Managers (everyone with the Manager role in your organization) get an email whenever a member completes a course, with a link straight to the completion report.
Members Can't See My Course?
Almost always one of these three:
The course is still a draft. Only published courses appear in the catalog. Check its status in the course list.
Courses isn't in your portal menu. Publishing does not add the link. See Add Courses to Your Member Portal Menu above.
The member isn't signed in. The catalog only shows courses to signed-in members.
Things to Know
A course that has issued certificates cannot be deleted. Archive it instead, so those certificates stay valid.
A quiz that a member has attempted cannot be edited or deleted.
Each lesson can have at most one quiz.
Video lessons support YouTube, Vimeo and Zoom recordings.
You cannot enroll members in bulk from the admin panel yet. Members enroll themselves by opening a published course.
