How to Sell a Course on Raklet?

Set a price on a course so members and visitors pay before they get access, with checkout handled by Stripe.

You can charge for a course on Raklet. Set a price in the course editor and anyone who wants to take the course pays for it first, through a secure checkout. Once they have paid, the course opens for them like any other.

This article covers selling a course. To build one first, see How to Create and Run Courses on Raklet?

Before You Start

  • Online payments must be set up. Course checkout runs through your connected Stripe account. If online payments are switched off, or your payment processor does not support it, the course page shows "This course can't be bought online right now. Please contact the organiser." instead of a buy button.

  • The course must be Public or Members Only. The Price field only appears for these two access settings. Courses set to Specific plans or Admins only cannot be sold.

Set a Price

You can set the price when you create the course, or add it to an existing course later.

  • Go to Courses and click New course, or open an existing course in the editor.

  • Set Access to Public or Members Only. The Price field appears next to it.

  • Enter the amount in the Price field. Leave it empty for a free course.

  • Click Create course, or save your changes if you are editing an existing course.

Which Access Setting to Choose

  • Public: anyone can buy the course, including visitors who are not members. A visitor who is not signed in enters their name and email at checkout.

  • Members Only: only members with an active membership plan can buy the course.

What Buyers See

  • The course card in your catalog shows the price.

  • On the course page, a Buy for button shows the price. Clicking it opens the checkout.

  • After paying, the buyer gets access to the course and can start the lessons.

  • Someone who already bought the course can use the Already bought it? Sign in link to get back to it.

Changing the Price or Access Later

  • Changing the price affects new buyers only. People who already bought the course keep their access.

  • Clearing the price makes the course free for everyone who has access. Past buyers are not refunded automatically.

  • Changing access to Specific plans or Admins only is not possible once someone has bought the course, so buyers do not lose what they paid for. You can still switch between Public and Members Only.

Things to Know

  • A course can be either sold or included in a plan, not both. To give a course to members of a certain plan for free, use the Specific plans access setting instead of a price.

  • Completion rewards and certificates work the same way on paid courses as on free ones.
