How to Add or Remove Sub-Members as an Admin?

Add a new or existing sub-member to a primary member's group subscription, or remove one, from the Admin Panel.

Before You Start

  • Sub-members can only be added under a Group Membership plan. Check that the primary member's plan has Group Membership enabled: Admin Panel → Membership → Plans, open the plan from Subscription Details, and look under the Group Membership section.

  • You need the Contacts → Edit permission to add or remove sub-members.

  • Sub-members are added to the primary (parent) member's subscription — not to another sub-member's subscription.

How to Add a Sub-Member

  1. Go to Contacts and open the primary member's profile.

  2. Open the Membership tab and click into their subscription to open Subscription Details.

  3. In the Group Membership card, click Add Sub Member.

  4. Choose one of the two options:

    • New Member — enter First Name and Last Name (required), plus Email and Phone (optional). This creates a new contact.

    • Existing Member — search for and select a contact who isn't already a sub-member on this subscription.

  5. If the plan is set to Charge Per Sub Member, select a Plan for the sub-member. Only plans with the same billing interval as the primary plan are listed. This step doesn't appear for Fixed Price plans — sub-members join for free, up to the plan's Max Seats limit.

  6. Click Add.

The sub-member now appears in the Group Membership table, linked to the primary member's subscription.

How to Remove a Sub-Member

  1. Open the primary member's Subscription Details page, as above.

  2. In the Group Membership table, find the sub-member's row.

  3. Click the trash icon under Actions.

  4. Confirm the removal.

Removing a sub-member ends their place in the group subscription — it doesn't delete their contact record.

Good to Know

  • Fixed Price plans: sub-members join for free, capped by the Max Seats set on the plan.

  • Charge Per Sub Member plans: each sub-member is billed individually on the plan selected for them.

  • The Status column shows each sub-member's subscription status: Active, Past Due, or Cancelled.

  • A contact already linked as a sub-member on this subscription won't appear again in the Add Sub Member search results.
