How to Restore Deleted Contacts?

This article will tell you how to restore your contacts if you deleted them on purpose or accidentally.

Before deleting a contact from the platform, we display an alert to verify this action, which cannot be undone easily. However, if you want to delete contacts, you can check out the How To Delete Contacts article.

Deleting Process

We have action logs in the admin panel and we know who deleted contacts and exactly when. Super admins have the right to delete everything in the system. If you'd like to restrict their access, you can create roles for your staff members so that they cannot delete records.

  • You may already have an Excel sheet of your contacts lying around. If that's the case, you can simply import your contacts back into the system with one click. But unfortunately, this import process won't bring the action logs, historical information, subscriptions, or payment information of your members back

Recovery Process

We have only 30 days to recover your deleted records after the incident, and backups will be deleted automatically afterward. After that time period, your deleted contacts will be irretrievable. It is our legal liability to delete records forever after 30 days in order to comply with GDPR.

Our engineering team can recover your contact data within 30 days of the deletion, as we have atomic backups. This process costs $500 as a one-time fee.

The recovery process involves getting a snapshot of the database first (which doubles our database costs while we're working on the recovery). Then our engineers need to write a custom script specifically for your organization to migrate data from the snapshot database to the production database. It takes about an hour to recover 1,000 contacts in the background. Once recovered on the database, we then update all the caches and other underlying services (including their balances, etc.).
