While creating your events, you can define ticket types as free/paid/donation and public/members/plan subscribers only.
Also as an administrator, you can create a hidden ticket from others for your special guests. You can give a special price to a hidden ticket or make it free.
In this case, you can sell this hidden ticket to your special guest by using the At The Door > Sell Ticket option and register your guest from there.
