Overview
The "Add Portal Locked" feature allows organizations to restrict access to specific parts of their portal based on user login status. This ensures that only logged-in users can access sensitive information, providing an additional layer of security and compliance, particularly for sectors like healthcare where privacy is critical.
When this feature is enabled, users who are not logged in will be redirected to an anonymous homepage, and no other internal pages will be accessible or indexed by search engines. This functionality helps organizations control who can view sensitive data and ensures compliance with industry regulations.
Feature Details
How It Works
Restricted Access: When the "Add Portal Locked" feature is enabled in the Admin panel (Admin > Social > Settings > Access), all users will be required to log in to view any content in the portal. If a user is not logged in, they will be redirected to a homepage that has no access to any other internal pages.
Anonymous Homepage Redirection:
If the homepage is configured, the system will redirect non-logged-in users there.
If no homepage is configured, non-logged-in users will see a "You are not authorized to access this page" message.
Access Control: Logged-in users will have access to the internal portal content as per their roles and permissions.
Compliance with Regulations: For organizations in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare), the feature ensures that titles, content, and sensitive data are not publicly visible, helping to adhere to privacy laws.
Configuration Steps
Navigate to Admin > Social > Settings > Access.
Look for the Lock Portal Content to Logged-In Members Only option.
Enable the feature by turning on the toggle labeled "Lock Portal Content".
If you want to redirect people to a Homepage, then set up a homepage from General. This will be where non-logged-in users are redirected.
Important Considerations
Pages Not Accessible to Anonymous Users: Once this feature is enabled, no internal pages (boards, posts, etc.) will be accessible to users who are not logged in. Ensure that any critical information is properly protected.
Legal Requirements: If your organization operates in a sector like healthcare, it's essential to ensure that sensitive titles, documents, or any confidential content are not exposed to unauthorized users. This feature will help you comply with these regulations.
